“Tantrum’s professionalism and creative leadership turned a complex production into one of the smoothest and most rewarding projects I’ve been a part of” Ethan Seneker, Content Production, Holland America Line Holland America Line (HAL) came to us, as they had already worked very successfully with Tantrum Director (& Creative) Giles Smith, on previous campaigns. The creative needed to be finely shaped by Giles and the team to show just how amazing a HAL liner cruise is (we can vouch for it) delivering at the highest level but, here’s the challenge, doing all this on a live cruise ship with real passengers aboard every step of the way. So we had to quickly get our heads in the game for shooting in this completely different world. Itinerary planning. Tick. Health and safety of the crew and passengers. Tick. Equipment restrictions. Tick. Carnet legalities. Tick It was a challenge we relished and with Giles, Producer Will Waters and Production Manager Maureen O’Sullivan at the helm (impossible to avoid a nautical reference), Tantrum were well placed to deliver the best experience the HAL team has had to date. Importantly we had to work within entirely different constraints to a normal production – it’s all about flexibility and agility – the wind does not break the tree that bends! While we had no control of the ship or the crew, we made sure to deliver stellar communication and to build relationships on the ship which allowed us to achieve the best possible result….and without disrupting or annoying the many thousands of paying guests on board. And what fun it was! Filming on board and then travelling to Norway to visit beautiful Fjords and villages. We hope very much to be working with the wonderful team at Holland America Line again later this year (2025).
